The Fiat Ducato chassis has been fitted with several engine platforms over the years, with the 2.3 Multijet engine being the most common choice for motorhomes and campervans. Between 2002 and 2022, Fiat introduced multiple engine variants, however the core engine design remained largely the same. We carry out Fiat Ducato cambelt replacements on a weekly basis and have extensive experience with all 2.3 Multijet variants. Our fully equipped workshop is capable of replacing cambelts and timing belts on all Fiat Ducato engine types, ensuring correct installation, manufacturer-approved parts, and reliable long-term performance for your motorhome or campervan.
In 2016, Ford introduced the 2.0 Panther engine, commonly known as the 2.0 EcoBlue, which features a wet timing belt design. Unfortunately, this design has developed a poor reputation due to premature belt degradation when maintenance schedules are not strictly followed. Through our extensive experience, we have found that replacing the wet belt at 6 years or 60,000 miles (whichever comes first) significantly reduces the risk of major engine failure. Correct engine maintenance is critical on EcoBlue engines. We strongly recommend servicing every 10,000 miles or annually as a minimum, using the correct Ford-approved oil grade and specification. These engines rely on specific oil additives to protect the wet belt system, and incorrect oil can accelerate belt breakdown. When carrying out Ford 2.0 EcoBlue wet belt replacement, we use genuine Ford parts only. Our replacement process includes the wet timing belt kit, oil pump belt, timing cover, water pump, new engine sump, and oil pickup, ensuring the system is fully refreshed and protected for long-term reliability.
